AIR WIS SERVICES SHAREHOLDERS APPROVE ACQUISITION BY UAL CORP. CHICAGO, Jan. 23 /PRNewswire/ -- UAL Corporation said today it is pleased its proposed acquisition of Air Wis Services, Inc., parent company of Air Wisconsin, has been accepted by Air Wis shareholders. At a special meeting today in Appleton, Wis., Air Wis shareholders approved the merger of Air Wis with a subsidiary of UAL. Stephen M. Wolf, UAL chairman and president said, "Today's approval by the Air Wis shareholders will benefit the traveling public by providing them continued access to the United Airlines systems." Air Wisconsin provides scheduled air service to 33 medium-sized cities in 14 states with its primary air traffic centers at Chicago's O'Hare International Airport. Headquartered in Appleton, Air Wisconsin employs about 1,600 persons and operates 37 aircraft. United Airlines provides scheduled air service to 169 cities throughout the United States, Asia, Australia, Europe and Latin America.
