AIR PRODUCTS' BOARD ELECTS TWO NEW DIRECTORS

 ALLENTOWN, Pa., April 26 /PRNewswire/ -- Air Products and Chemicals, Inc. (NYSE: APD) has elected the Hon. L. Paul Bremer III, managing director of Kissinger Associates, and Takeo Shiina, chairman of IBM Japan, Ltd., to the company's board of directors, effective June 17, 1993. In commenting on the appointments, Air Products Chairman H.A. Wagner said, "We welcome these gentlemen to our board. Each brings unique experience which will broaden and strengthen our Board's background in the international arena."
 Ambassador Bremer, 51, joined Kissinger Associates -- an international strategic consulting firm -- in June 1989 after a 23-year career in the U.S. Diplomatic Service that included serving as Ambassador to the Netherlands and Ambassador-at-Large for Counter-Terrorism; special assistant or executive assistant to six Secretaries of State; and executive secretary of the State Department.
 Takeo Shiina, 63, joined IBM Japan, Ltd. in 1953 and held marketing, operations and corporate staff positions before being named president and chief executive officer in l978. He assumed his current position and that of chairman of IBM Japan's Advisory Board in March 1993. Shiina holds a Blue Ribbon Medal Award from the Japanese government for his many contributions to Japanese industry.
 Air Products and Chemicals, Inc. is an international supplier of industrial gases and related equipment, intermediate and specialty chemicals, and environmental and energy systems. The company has annual sales in excess of $3 billion, operations in 29 countries and 14,500 employees. Corporate headquarters are near Allentown.
 These appointments fill vacancies on Air Products' 13-member board of directors created by the recent retirement of John L. Grant, effective Jan. 28, 1993, and the retirement of Donald T. Shire which will be effective June 1, 1993.
