AIR METHODS TO COMPLETE TWO ADDITIONAL MEDICAL HELICOPTER
INTENSIVE CARE UNIT (ICU) INTERIORS FOR HDM FLUGSERVICE, GMBH
LAS VEGAS, Nev., March 24 /PRNewswire/ -- Air Methods Corp. (NASDAQ: AIRM) today announced its receipt of sales orders for two additional medical ICU interiors to be installed in Bell 412 helicopters bound for Germany. The helicopters to be purchased by HDM Flugservice GmbH, of Munich, will be retrofitted by the company with these state-of-the-art medical interiors allowing them to be utilized as airborne medical ICU transports. Today's announcement is being made at the 1992 Helicopter Association International Heli-Expo held at the Las Vegas Convention Center. Earlier this year, the company announced its delivery of the first such aircraft for use by HDM Flugservice.
The Bell 412 helicopter, equipped with the company's medical interior, is the most sophisticated medical intensive care helicopter available worldwide. It is designed to transport either two intensive care patients or four acute care patients, as well as up to four medical professionals and up to two Instrument Flight Rules (IFR)- certified pilots. This medical interior is the result of a two year design and refinement process completed by Air Methods. In effect, this uniquely-designed medical interior operates as a high-technology extension of a hospital intensive care unit capable of use worldwide.
These additional international sales orders demonstrate the company's expanding commitment to its worldwide marketing program. Emergency medical interiors have also been installed in two Gulfstream Commander airplanes which are now in use in Canada. Air Methods has also completed the medical interiors for two Learjets with on-board emergency intensive care interiors for use in Europe and the U.S. in 1991.
Air Methods is the largest exclusive provider of state-of-the-art emergency air medical transportation systems and services to hospitals throughout the United States. The company utilizes only IFR-certified pilots and aircraft, including 24 helicopters and five airplanes, to perform these services. In addition, Air Methods offers completely integrated airborne medical systems for administering intensive care to patients while flying to a Level I trauma center or a tertiary care facility, either from outlying hospitals or the scene of an accident.
