AIR METHODS RENEWS LONG-TERM CONTRACT FOR AIRBORNE INTENSIVE CARE SERVICES WITH UNIVERSITY OF COLORADO HOSPITAL

Contract Continues Tradition of 100 Percent Renewal Rate
Among Company's Customers Since Air Methods' Inception in 1980
DENVER, May 13 /PRNewswire/ -- Air Methods Corp. (AMEX: ARF.EC) today announced its renewal of a long-term multiyear contract with the University of Colorado Hospital in Denver, part of the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center. Through this arrangement, Air Methods operates University Hospital's LifeLink program, a 24-hour-a- day, airplane emergency air medical transport service, based at Centennial Airport in Denver.
University Hospital's LifeLink program operates primarily in the Midwest, directly serving the long-distance air medical transportation needs of critically ill or injured patients living in Colorado, Kansas, Montana, Nebraska, North Dakota, South Dakota and Wyoming. The program serves more than 9 million people residing within these seven states. In addition, the LifeLink program operates throughout the United States and is authorized to fly in Mexico and Canada.
In connection with this program, Air Methods provides two medically dedicated aircraft, a Piper Cheyenne to the University Hospital, as well as its medically-dedicated Learjet, for long-range flights throughout North America. Both of these airplanes are designed to function as airborne intensive care units. These sophisticated aircraft feature oxygen, medical air, medical suction systems and other medical equipment that enable the medical flight crew to provide the highest level of care in the air.
Air Methods Corp. is the largest exclusive provider of state-of- the-art emergency air medical transportation systems and services to hospitals throughout the United States. Air Methods now serves 43 hospitals located in 13 states under 19 dedicated long-term operating agreements. The company utilizes only IFR-certified pilots and aircraft, including 26 helicopters and four airplanes, to perform these services. In addition, Air Methods offers completely integrated airborne medical systems for administering intensive care to patients while flying to a trauma center or a tertiary care facility, either from outlying hospitals or the scene of an accident.
