AIR METHODS AWARDED 21ST AIR MEDICAL TRANSPORT CONTRACT, CONTINUING NATIONWIDE EXPANSION

 DENVER, Sept. 1 /PRNewswire/ -- Air Methods Corp. (NASDAQ-NMS: AIRM), today announced its award of a contract with Deaconess Medical Center of Billings, Mont. Through this arrangement, Air Methods will operate the DEACARE emergency air medical transport program, utilizing four turbo-prop, medically equipped airplanes based in Billings. Terms of this contract were not disclosed, although the company indicated this agreement may have a materially favorable impact on its financial performance.
 In connection with this program, Air Methods will be the FAA-approved provider of air medical transport services. DEACARE's air medical transport primary service area extends beyond a 300 mile radius from Billings and includes Northern Wyoming, Eastern Montana, and the Western Dakotas. There are more than 460,000 people residing in DEACARE's vast service area. Two of the aircraft serve the citizens of Montana, facilitating the air transfer of patients from more than 30 health care facilities located throughout the region to Deaconess Medical Center or other specialty hospitals through the United States. Two other aircraft, transport physicians practicing in more than 10 medical specialties to hospitals in Montana in connection with the Deaconess Medical Center outreach program. This program helps fulfill the hospital's mission of providing tertiary services to people residing in rural communities within the DEACARE service area. DEACARE has been successfully providing medical transport services to the citizens of Montana since its inception in 1977.
 Air Methods is the largest exclusive provider of state-of-the-art emergency air medical transportation systems and services to hospitals throughout the United States. Air Methods now serves 56 hospitals in 14 states under 21 dedicated long-term operating agreements. The company utilizes only IFR-certified pilots and aircraft, including 30 helicopters and 12 airplanes, to perform these services. In addition, Air Methods offers completely integrated airborne medical systems for administering intensive care to patients while flying to a trauma center or a tertiary care facility, either from outlying hospitals or the scene of an accident.
