 AIR ARUBA BECOMES NEW McDONNELL DOUGLAS JET OPERATOR
 LONG BEACH, Calif., March 16 /PRNewswire/ -- Air Aruba, the


Caribbean airline based in Aruba, Dutch Caribbean, will acquire a pair of McDonnell Douglas twin jet transports under an agreement with Polaris Aircraft Leasing Corp. of San Francisco.
 The arrangement for two MD-80 twin jets includes one MD-83 model and one MD-88 with an advanced cockpit featuring an electronic flight instrument system and TV-type cathode ray tube instrument displays.
 One of the twin jets will be delivered to the airline this month, the second in April. They will be used on short and medium range routes in the Caribbean and South America and to cities in the United States, including Miami and Newark, N.J.
 Air Aruba will fit the aircraft for two-class service, with eight first-class seats and 135 in the coach section. Both aircraft are powered by twin Pratt & Whitney JT8D-219 engines in the 21,000-pounds thrust range.
