AIR & WATER TECHNOLOGIES SUBSIDIARY TO INSTALL CHIMNEY
 AT PSI ENERGY'S GIBSON STATION
BRANCHBURG, N.J., April 9 /PRNewswire/ -- Custodis, a Research- Cottrell company and a subsidiary of Air & Water Technologies Corporation (AMEX: AWT), has been awarded a contract to design and construct a new chimney at PSI Energy's Gibson Station near Princeton, Ind. The contract is valued at approximately $4 million.
The 500-foot concrete chimney and brick liner will serve a new flue gas desulfurization system being installed on one of the units at Gibson Station. Custodis will work directly for PSI Energy which is managing the FGD project, and with Sargent & Lundy, the consulting engineering firm.
In addition to the Custodis contract, Research-Cottrell is performing an extensive electrostatic precipitator rebuild at Gibson Station. The retrofit project replaces two existing ESPs with new ESPs that incorporate the latest technological advances in particulate control, including 50-foot collecting plates and 16-inch spacing. Construction of the new ESPs and demolition of the existing units will be accomplished in phases. Both ESPs will be operational by late 1993.
The subsidiaries of Research-Cottrell -- Air Pollution Control Division, Custodis, Ecodyne Cooling Tower Services, Flex-Kleen, KVB/Analect, R-C Environmental Services & Technologies, R-C Europe, and REECO -- provide the expertise, technology and services to comprehensively solve any air or thermal pollution problem. Air & Water Technologies, through its operating units -- Metcalf & Eddy, Research-Cottrell, and Residuals Management -- provides a broad range of environmental services and technologies in the areas of water resource management, air pollution control, and waste by-product disposal and reuse. The company's AWT Capital group provides services relating to the financing of environmental facilities and systems.
