Insurance organisation, American International Group Inc (NYSE:AIG) on Thursday revealed the promotion of Monika M Machon as AIG treasurer with immediate effect, who will report to AIG chief financial officer David L Herzog.
Machon succeeds AIG executive vice president (EVP) Brian T Schreiber, who has also been named AIG deputy chief investment officer (CIO) together with Geoffrey N Cornell, both of whom will report directly to EVP of Investments William N Dooley.
In his new role, Schreiber will oversee a portfolio of specialised asset classes such as Private Placements, Structured Products, Direct Investments, Real Estate Investments, Private Equity and Hedge Funds, Commercial Asset Finance and the remainder of AIG Legacy Assets. He joined AIG in 1997 as a Portfolio manager for AIG Global Investments Group and was named AIG treasurer in August 2011.
Machon joined AIG Asset Management (Europe) Limited in 1998 as director of Credit and Emerging Markets and was named global head of Asset Management in January 2009. Prior to the company she worked with Barclays Capital Providian (now Aegon USA), Northwestern Mutual Life and INB.
Most recently, Cornell served as North American Regional CIO and joined AIG in 1994. In his new role, he will oversee certain public market portfolios such as High Grade and High Yield Corporate Debt, Municipal Securities and Investment Strategy & Sovereign Research.
