 AIG ANNOUNCES MANAGEMENT CHANGES IN LATIN AMERICAN
 PROPERTY-CASUALTY OPERATIONS
 NEW YORK, June 19 /PRNewswire/ -- American International Group, Inc. (NYSE: AIG) has announced that Peter Hammer, 54, president of the Latin American Division of American International Underwriters (AIU) in New York, will become AIG's country manager for Chile, based in Santiago.
 Hammer will be succeeded as Latin American Division president by Hamilton Da Silva, 41, who had been president of AIG's Brazilian subsidiary Interamericana Compania de Seguros Gerais. Both changes are effective July 1.
 Hammer has been with AIG for 29 years and has served in a variety of executive positions with the company's foreign property-casualty operations, both at the New York head office and overseas. These positions included assignments in Latin America and Europe, before he became president of AIU's Southeast Asian Division, resident in Hong Kong, and later senior executive officer of AIG companies in Japan and Korea. He had been in his most recent position since 1988. Hammer is a graduate of Fordham University and the American Graduate School of International Management in Phoenix, Ariz.
 Da Silva has spent 16 years with AIG in Latin America, including executive positions in both Brazil and Chile. Prior to being named country manager for Brazil in 1986, he served as country manager for Chile and before that was assistant to the president of AIU's Latin American Division. He is a graduate of the Federal University of Rio de Janerio with a degree in engineering and has attended the College of Insurance in New York.
 AIG's presence in Latin America dates back 50 years and today the company has life and property-casualty operations in all major countries of the region.
