 AIG'S COMMERCE AND INDUSTRY INSURANCE COMPANY ANNOUNCES INCREASED
 CAPACITY TO $40 MILLION ON POLLUTION LEGAL LIABILITY COVERAGE
 NEW YORK, April 1 /PRNewswire/ -- Commerce and Industry Insurance Company (C&I), a member company of American International Group, Inc. (NYSE: AIG), today announced a doubling of its capacity for pollution legal liability coverage from $20 million per loss to $40 million. These new limits are the largest generally available from any company underwriting pollution legal liability insurance in the United States.
 "AIG Companies were pioneers in underwriting pollution coverages, a market we have been in since 1979," commented Kevin H. Kelley, chairman of C&I. "For some time, we have had the largest capacity for pollution legal liability coverage at $20 million. This increase in limits demonstrates C&I's continued commitment to the environmental insurance marketplace and our leadership in this important and growing field."
 The Pollution Legal Liability policy underwritten by C&I covers liability and cleanup costs resulting from pollution emanating from covered locations (see Note A). Other environmental coverages offered by C&I include Contractors Pollution Liability, Professional Liability for Environmental Architects and Engineers, Underground Storage Tank Liability, Asbestos Abatement Liability, Hospital Pollution Liability, and Commercial General Liability, Auto Liability and Umbrella insurance for environmental risks.
