AICPA patners with treasury on "Simplify" campaign; treasury offers enhanced batch provider software.

The AICPA has signed on as an official U.S. Department of the Treasury partner on "Simplify"--a national initiative to communicate to tax preparers, small businesses and the financial services industry the benefits of paying federal taxes electronically through the Electronic Federal Tax Payment System. As a Simplify partner, the AICPA supports Treasury's goal to increase EFFPS use and reduce the number of Federal Tax Deposit coupons in the system.

If you or your clients are paying federal taxes with paper FTD coupons, Treasury urges taxpayers to consider switching to EFFPS. To learn more about how EPTPS can help your business and your clients, visit The list of tax professional associations, including the AICPA, supporting EFFPS can be found at www.simplifyeftps, org/Tax- PreparerPartners.html.

Moreover, the Simplify campaign is hosting VIP (Very Important Partner) Networking Events at all of this summer's IRS Nationwide Tax Forums. Participants will have the opportunity to network with other tax professionals, financial services industry professionals and small-business owners while learning more about the EFTPS program. Refreshments will be served and all attendees will receive a gift. Visit al/index.html to register for one of these free networking events. You do not have to be a paid attendee of a tax forum to attend a networking event.

In related news, Treasury said it now has an enhanced version of its batch provider software for tax preparers. Batch software allows tax preparers to make large numbers of federal tax payments on behalf of clients with the single click of a mouse using Treasury's EFTPS program. The new software offers several improvements, including electronic registration and enrollment, real-time payment and enrollment data, real-time transmission and replication, and enhanced report generation.

To download the enhanced batch software, go to, select your state and hit Enter, and then go to the "What's New" section.
