AICPA names Needles Outstanding Accounting Educator.

The AICPA presented its Outstanding Accounting Educator Award for 1992 to Belverd E. Needles, Jr., CPA, PhD. Needles is the Arthur Andersen & Co. Alumni Distinguished Professor of Accountancy at DePaul University, Chicago, Illinois.

Needles was director of the DePaul School of Accountancy for eight years. Before that, he served as visiting professor of accountancy at the University of Illinois at Champaign-Urbana and was dean of the College of Business and Administration at Chicago State University.

Needles is past president of the Federation of Schools of Accountancy and served two terms as the elected U.S. representative to the European Accounting Association executive committee. He is also a member of the AICPA academic and career development executive committee.
