AHMANSON DECLARES QUARTERLY DIVIDENDS

 IRWINDALE, Calif., Oct. 26 /PRNewswire/ -- H.F. Ahmanson & Company (NYSE: AHM) announced today that the Board of Directors has declared a quarterly cash dividend of $.22 per common share payable on Dec. 1, 1993, to shareholders of record on Nov. 9, 1993.
 The Board of Directors also declared a quarterly cash dividend of $.60 per depositary share, representing one-half of a share of its 9.60 Percent Preferred Stock, Series B. The dividend is payable on Dec. 1, 1993, to the holders of record on Nov. 9, 1993.
 The Board of Directors also declared a quarterly cash dividend of $.525 per depositary share, representing one-tenth of a share of its 8.40 Percent Preferred Stock, Series C. The dividend is payable on Dec. 1, 1993, to holders of record on Nov. 9, 1993.
 The Board of Directors also declared an initial cash dividend of $.975 per depositary share, representing one-tenth of a share of its 6.00 Percent Cumulative Convertible Preferred Stock, Series D. Regular quarterly dividends of $.75 per depositary share are payable commencing March 1, 1994, with respect to the Series D Preferred Stock. The dividend is payable on Dec. 1, 1993, to holders of record on Nov. 9, 1993.
