AGRICULTURE DEPARTMENT, COMPANIES TO ATTEND GERMAN FOOD SHOW

HARRISBURG, Pa., Oct. 4 /PRNewswire/ -- Six Pennsylvania food companies will be represented in a display sponsored by the state Department of Agriculture at the world's largest food show in Cologne, Germany, next week.
"This is part of our effort to market Pennsylvania agricultural products worldwide," State Agriculture Secretary Boyd E. Wolff said. "We've been successful in the past in getting buyers for our products at trade shows across the USA and overseas."
More than 200,000 industry visitors from around the world are expected to attend ANUGA '93 in Cologne, which runs from Oct. 9-14. The Department of Agriculture will sponsor the PENNSYLVANIA USA exhibit in the USA Hall.
Pennsylvania companies which will be represented at ANUGA include Downey Foods of Philadelphia; Eddyleon Chocolate Company of Moosic, Lackawanna County; John Wagner & Sons of Ivyland, Bucks County; Jack & Jill Ice Cream of Bensalem, Bucks County; JDM Commodities of Berwyn, Chester County; and Furman Foods of Northumberland, Northumberland County.
"Most of these companies have been to other shows with us," Wolff said. "They find them an excellent opportunity to meet new customers and increase sales."
The department will sponsor exhibits at several large food shows in 1994. Firms interested in how the Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture can market their food products internationally should contact the Bureau of Domestic and International Trade at 717-783-3181.
