AGRICULTURE A PRIMARY FOCUS OF 1993 OHIO STATE FAIR

COLUMBUS, Ohio, Aug. 3 /PRNewswire/ -- The historical, economic and continuing importance of agriculture will be a primary focus of the 1993 Ohio State Fair. For the first time, the Ohio State Fair and the Ohio Department of Agriculture (ODA) are co-sponsoring "Agriculture on Parade," a new exhibit housed within two 66-by-90-foot tents near the main entrance to the fairgrounds.
"We welcome this opportunity to help showcase Ohio's largest industry," said ODA Director Fred Dailey. "This is a chance to catch some of the urban fairgoers as they enter the fairgrounds to give them a sample of Ohio's great agricultural industry."
The exhibit showcases the many different segments of Ohio agriculture. Dairy, beef, sheep, goats and chickens will be part of the "Agriculture on Parade" exhibit, along with antique, classic and modern farm equipment. Some 35 antique tractors will be on display outside of the "Agriculture on Parade" tents. ODA will also demonstrate the efforts made to create new domestic and international markets for farm products.
"Historically, agriculture has always been an integral part of the Ohio State Fair," said Ohio State Fair Manager Richard Frenette. "We want to continue to emphasize the importance of Ohio's $40 billion agricultural industry to the state fair and to the people of Ohio."
The "Agriculture on Parade" exhibit is one of the many agricultural displays at the Ohio State Fair, the largest agricultural fair in the United States. For more information, contact Tammy Knapp, 614-644-4014.
