AGENCY NETWORK ESTABLISHES EUROPEAN AFFILIATION

CLEVELAND, Jan. 4 /PRNewswire/ -- The Mutual Advertising Agency Network (MAAN), a network of 31 North American agencies, has added two Associate Members in Europe and negotiated an affiliation with a European network of 14 agencies.
The new relationships were established at the network's fall meeting in London, where a number of European agencies interested in North American connections made presentations. Formed in 1946, and headquartered in Cleveland, MAAN members' combined annual billings exceed $350 million.
EMCO, the London-based European Marketing Communications Organization, is the network MAAN selected for affiliation. Associate members are Nixon Wood Associates Ltd. London, and Wildell Gruppen, Danderyd, Sweden.
EMCO has member agencies in Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Italy, The Netherlands, Norway, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland and the United Kingdom.
"We created the Associate Membership category to encourage agencies outside of North America to become working members of MAAN at a time when the European Economic Community is coming together," said MAAN President Jeanie Coates of Coates Advertising, Portland, Ore. "We see great opportunities for growth through these international connections for both our North American and European members. We also have plans to explore affiliations with Pacific Rim agencies.
"The arrangement with EMCO is an experiment which we think is unique where two networks provide services to each other's members, as needed, at costs which will be negotiated between the 'requesting' agency and the 'providing agency.'"
MAAN has three general meetings a year with the 1993 winter meeting scheduled for February 14 through 17 in San Diego. Several of the new European members have indicated plans to attend, Coates said.
