AFS Receives Certificate of Appreciation.

AFS received a certificate of appreciation from the Dept. of Energy's Office of Advanced Automotive Technologies for its participation in the "Design for Product Optimization for Cast Light Metals Program."

The project was aimed at exploring opportunities for using lighter weight metals to achieve energy savings. AFS served as the "conduit for technology transfer" for the project. The report summary is expected in the first quarter of 2001.

The certificate was presented to AFS at the quarterly review meeting on November 27 by Joseph A. Carpenter, Jr., manager for Automotive Lightweight Materials at the Mercury Marine Mercabo test facility in Placida, Florida.
