AFI aiming to forge long-term relationships with majors.

SET up in 1984 in Dammam, Alaa for Industry (AFI), an ISO 9000 company, is now one of the major business houses in the Arabian Gulf.

Over the years, AFI has grown and expanded its operations setting up 10 companies and 17 branches under its umbrella in the Middle East including Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Bahrain and Kuwait. AFI, which is registered under Ibrahim Ali Al Rashoodi & Partners Holding Company, is now organised as a holding company comprising several businesses.

AICCO the construction arm of AFI has expanded its engineering capabilities to undertake joint venture engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) projects. AFI's association with Aramco is continuous whether it is for the supply of 'O' rings or for rig overhaul. AFI's connection with Aramco does not end there.

The company also supplies seals, hoses and test benches besides executing rig overhaul, loading arm maintenance and refurbishments and repair of hydraulic cylinders and equipment. AFI also serves the oil and gas sector with its association with global giants such as Parker, Asco Numatics (Emerson), SKF, Ventil, 3M, Resato and Todo.

PARKER HANNIFIN AFI has signed a strategic partnership agreement with Parker. Parker Hannifin a global Fortune 300 company with customers in 46 countries is the leading supplier specialised in hydraulics, pneumatics and instrumentation. It is a manufacturer and designer of technologically advanced products and systems, while AFI is the number one distributor and supplier of hydraulic products.

The partnership between the two organisations will provide advancement in the products and services that will result in better customer satisfaction and in turn increase of revenue for both the parties.

This agreement authorises AFI to distribute Parker Products in Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Qatar and Kuwait. AFI hopes that this partnership will give more business to the company by acquiring orders for Parker products from its top customers especially in the oil and gas industry and offshore.

According to Ziad Khader, AFI general manager for marketing and branch operations: "We are already in the process of making Parker business itself as a vertical, allocating responsible engineers all over the group and pushing more Parker products to the top of the market. Maintaining sufficient stock and improving service will definitely boost the business. In this process we are upgrading our testing facilities at our lead factory and install new test benches at all our new major facilities."

"In addition to the parts sales we are now concentrating more on major projects where AFI can excel along with Parker. When it comes to hydraulics, Parker's worldwide network of sales engineers walk the walk and talk the talk. AFI is in the process of upgrading its sales engineers to the same quality so that they can be a single-point contact for any hydraulic requirements including rapid problem solving," he says.

Arun Khanduri regional manager for Asco Saudi Arabia says, Asco, the world's leading manufacturer of solenoid valves, is offering an enhanced version of its redundant control system (RCS).

The company has also introduced a new online configuration tool that makes it easy for customers to select an RCS solution that meets the specific needs of their application.
