AEROVOX ACQUIRES CAPACITOR MANUFACTURER AERO M

 NORTH DARTMOUTH, Mass., March 8 /PRNewswire/ -- Aerovox Incorporated (NASDAQ: ARVX) announced today that the company has concluded the purchase of all the stock of Aero M, Inc. from Cooper Industries.
 Aero M manufactures AC voltage capacitors for motor start and gear motor applications as well as various types of DC voltage large can computer grade capacitors for electronic and electrical power supply applications. The company had sales of approximately $24,000,000 in 1992. Aero M has plants in Glasgow, Ky., and Huntsville, Ala., and a combined work force of about 280 people.
 In the January announcement of the agreement to purchase the company, Aerovox President Clifford H. Tuttle noted the compatibility and synergism between the Aerovox and Aero M product lines. Aero M's motor start capacitors are sold to the same appliance manufactures who buy Aerovox motu?n capacitors. Aero M's large DC electrolytics are used in power supply applications which also require EMI filters and film capacitors; both are product lines manufactured by Aerovox's Electronic Group.
 Aerovox, a leading manufacturer of AC capacitors since 1922, has purchased two other businesses that round our its product lines since the company was spun off from Cooper Industries in 1989. In 1990, Aerovox acquired a DC film capacitor operation from an AT&T Microelectronics Business Unit. And in 1991, the company purchased certain assets of Cornell-Dubilier Electronics Co.'s New Bedford, Mass. electrical component operation for manufacturing AC capacitors, power product capacitors and EMI filters.
