AEOI Chief: Iran to Operate New Project in Fordo Site.
TEHRAN (FNA)- Head of Atomic Energy Organization of Iran (AEOI) Ali Akbar Salehi announced that the new phase of a nuclear project will become operational in Fordo site in the coming days.
"The stage of a nuclear project at Fordo facilities will be exploited within a few days," Salehi said.
He underlined that the project is related to the stable isotopes and a complex of research centers in Fordo that its first stage will be exploited in the next two weeks and its main opening will take place on April 10, 2018.
"The stable isotopes project with the cooperation of Russia is in the progress and the agreements related to the project have been signed," Salehi added.
He reiterated that Fordo's facilities have changed a lot compared to the last two years and one of its main parts is related to the stable isotopes.
In relevant remarks in mid-April 2016, Salehi announced that Tehran and the European Union have held good discussions on nuclear cooperation and are now able to launch joint venture at Fordo uranium enrichment plant in Central Iran.
"Various talks and visits have been made between Iran and certain European states after the nuclear deal and this time we are witnessing the presence of an EU delegation within this framework," Salehi told reporters after meeting the EU energy commissioner in Tehran.
"We have held good talks with the EU delegation on nuclear cooperation which can start from the Fordo site," he added.
Salehi also said that Tehran and the EU have decided to set up an advanced nuclear center in Iran to provide the country and neighbors with related services.
His remarks came after Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif announced that cooperation between Tehran and the European Union in the field of peaceful nuclear technology is among the important issues pursued during EU Foreign Policy Chief Federica Mogherini's visit to Tehran.
