AEL SUBSIDIARY AWARDED $14.2 MILLION SUBCONTRACT

LANSDALE, Pa., June 9 /PRNewswire/ -- AEL Industries, Inc. (NASDAQ-NMS: AELNA) announced today that its AEL Systems International Corp., in conjunction with AEL Defense Corp.'s Cross Systems Division, has been awarded a $14.2 million subcontract by Lockheed Canada, Inc. for Electronic Support & Training (EST) systems.
The prime contract was awarded to Lockheed Canada by the Canadian Department of National Defense.
Canada's EST system will include three specially configured Canadair Challenger 600 aircraft, which are already in inventory, ground support stations and a variety of systems carried in pods on T-33 aircraft. The Electronic Support & Training system will provide operator and force level training in air, maritime and land scenarios by emulating hostile electronic action against radars and communications systems from an airborne platform. The manned control stations in the Challenger aircraft will permit real-time adaptation of the training situation as the training operator evaluates the student's ability.
The radar ECM equipment, called CrossJam 2000 EW Suite, will be provided by AEL's Cross Systems Division based in Alpharetta, Ga. Cross will also produce six threat emitter simulator pods designed to mimic the radar emissions of specific airborne threats.
AEL is a leading supplier of electronic defense systems and subsystems. The company designs and manufactures sophisticated countermeasures, simulation and radar warning receiver systems; installs and integrates electronic and avionic equipment in military aircraft; and provides state-of-the-art antenna, microwave and integrated circuit components.
The Class A common stock of AEL Industries, Inc. is traded in the over-the-counter market on the NASDAQ National Market System under the symbol AELNA.
