AEL RECEIVES F-16 NIGHT VISION AWARD

LANSDALE, Pa., Nov. 9 /PRNewswire/ -- AEL Industries, Inc. (NASDAQ-NMS: AELNA) announced today that the Aero Division of its AEL Defense Corp. subsidiary has been awarded a contract from the U.S. Air Force Aeronautical Systems Center, Wright-Patterson AFB, Ohio, to design, fabricate/procure and install five prototype F-16 night vision compatible cockpit/external lighting kits. The purpose of this modification is a one-time flight test project with potential application into the operational F-16 fleet. These modifications will enhance mission capabilities and improve flight safety during night operations.
Work on this contract, which is managed by the 4950th Test Wing at Wright-Patterson, AFB, will take place at the Aero Division's St. Louis Regional Airport Facility. Specifications of the contract include three separate designs for the F-16 B and C model aircraft, with one of these aircraft to be upgraded to the European Mid-Life Upgrade (MLU) configuration. Installation of the Night Vision Lighting (NVL) kits will take place at the Air National Guard/Air Force Reserve Test Center (AATC) in Tuscon, Ariz., and Nellis AFB, Nevada this winter and next spring.
"This award builds on the previous night vision successes AEL's Aero Division has experienced with U.S. Army helicopters, and most recently with the U.S. Navy A-6E NVL program," said Aero Division President Joseph Iervolino. "The introduction of NVL compatibilities to the F-16 aircraft will tremendously improve U.S. Air Force Air-to-Air and Air-to- Ground tactical night operations."
"AEL has been at the forefront of night vision technology development," Iervolino added, "and today we are the acknowledged leader in the fields of fully compliant night vision cockpit lighting and night vision heads-up display systems."
