AEL AWARDED $7.6 MILLION IN CONTRACT OPTIONS

LANSDALE, Pa., June 22 /PRNewswire/ -- AEL Industries, Inc. (NASDAQ-NMS: AELNA) announced today it has received a $6.2 million award from the U.S. Army Communications-Electronics Command (CECOM) for 294 additional Aviation Night Vision Heads-Up Display (ANVIS/HUD) shipsets and a $1.4 million award for ANVIS/HUD spares.
The contracts, to be performed by AEL's Cross Systems Division, call for the manufacture of ANVIS/HUD devices, helicopter modification kits and spares for the U.S. Army and U.S. Marine Corps. These night vision systems incorporate an advanced, electro-optical capability that combines the image seen by a helicopter pilot and copilot through their night vision goggles with computer-generated graphic and digital symbology of the critical information needed for safe operation of the aircraft.
These awards increase the current contract value to $30.1 million for delivery of 1,024 shipsets. The program has the potential of requiring up to 3,000 shipsets for use on eight different types of helicopters over the next five years for a value that could exceed $100 million.
AEL is a leading supplier of electronic defense systems and subsystems. The company designs and manufactures sophisticated countermeasures, simulation and radar warning receiver systems; modifies, upgrades and integrates electronic and avionics equipment in military and commercial aircraft, and provides state-of-the-art antenna, microwave and integrated circuit components.
