ADVANTAGEHEALTH ACQUIRES PHYSICAL THERAPY PRACTICE

WOBURN, Mass., Sept. 22 /PRNewswire/ -- Raymond Dunn, chairman and CEO of AdvantageHEALTH Corporation (NASDAQ: ADHC) announced the recent acquisition of Challenge Physical Therapy and Rehabilitation, headquartered in Springfield, Mass.
Dunn said, "This acquisition brings five new sites of service to the company in western Massachusetts. The addition of this physical therapy practice to the AdvantageHEALTH network enhances the company's market share in this strategic area. Further, the consolidation of certain aspects of the Challenge practice and the 11 site Stewart Therapy practice, acquired in May of 1993, represents a further expansion of the company's 'hub and spoke' growth plan, enhances its regional market presence, and allows for the continued provision of low cost quality rehabilitation services and more accessible care for patients."
Dunn further stated, "We are continuing to execute our regional hub and spoke growth plan and are confident that our existing alliances with 18 major tertiary and dominant community hospitals in New England puts the company in a positive position to deal with any changes presented by future consolidations within the health care delivery system."
Robert Spencer, chief financial officer, said, "We expect that the acquisition of this physical therapy practice will increase the company's net revenue in excess of $3 million on an annualized basis. The geographical location of the five facilities will allow for significant operational economies of scale once fully integrated and transitioned into the AdvantageHEALTH network."
AdvantageHEALTH Corporation operates the largest network of comprehensive medical rehabilitation facilities in New England. The company currently employs in excess of 3,300 employees at 69 locations in seven states.
