ADVANCED TISSUE SCIENCES APPOINTS VICE PRESIDENT, SALES AND MARKETING
 LA JOLLA, Calif., April 22 /PRNewswire/ -- Advanced Tissue Sciences Inc. (NASDAQ-NMS: ATISA) today announced the appointment of Jean-Jacques Bienaime as the vice president, Sales and Marketing, according to Arthur J. Benvenuto, chairman, president and chief executive officer. Bienaime, who has been directing the marketing of Cardiopulmonary Products at Genentech Inc., is credited with the successful launch, and continued marketing, of Genentech's t-PA (Activase(TM)). Recently, he has also been involved in preparing the launch of Genentech's recombinant DNAse for treating cystic fibrosis and chronic bronchitis.
 "Jean-Jacques' marketing expertise in high technology biologicals will bring an important new dimension to our senior management staff," said Benvenuto. "He will spearhead the worldwide marketing of Dermagraft(TM) and will be responsible for establishing the foundation for marketing future products."
 Prior to his tenure at Genentech, Bienaime spent seven years at Ciba-Geigy Corp., beginning with Ciba-Geigy, S.A. in France. He held various sales and marketing positions, culminating as executive director, Market Research. His academic achievements include a masters of business administration from The Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania and a degree in finance and economics from Ecole Superieure de Commerce de Paris in France.
