 ADOLPHUS HOTEL IN DALLAS TO JOIN ITT SHERATON LUXURY COLLECTION;
 ITT SHERATON ELECTS VP TO HEAD LUXURY OPERATIONS
 DALLAS, Dec. 17 /PRNewswire/ -- The internationally acclaimed Adolphus Hotel will join ITT Sheraton Corporation's luxury group of hotels, ITT Sheraton announced today.
 The Adolphus, which has earned virtually every architectural, design and hospitality award in the industry, becomes part of an ITT Sheraton group that includes such prestigious properties as The St. Regis in New York, The Carlton in Washington, two Hawaii resort properties -- the Princeville and Hana Maui -- and selected international hotels.
 "The addition of The Adolphus to our luxury operations reaffirms our commitment to the luxury hotel business," said John Kapioltas, chairman, president and chief executive officer of ITT Sheraton Corporation.
 Kapioltas pointed out that ITT Sheraton's recent restoration of the historic St. Regis in New York marked a major step toward the company's goal of extending its operations into the luxury segment.
 "The Adolphus, another historically important hotel known for fine service, further strengthens our luxury network and supports our development strategy," he said.
 Also today, ITT Sheraton announced that Rick Segal has been elected vice president, ITT Sheraton Corporation, director of operations-luxury hotels, with responsibility for identifying and implementing consistent standards at the company's luxury hotels around the world.
 ITT Sheraton is a worldwide network of 420 owned, leased, managed and franchised properties in 62 countries. In addition to the luxury group of which The Adolphus will be a part, the company has operations in the upscale business, resort, all-suites and midscale segments.
 The 435-room Adolphus, originally built in 1912 by beer baron Adolphus Busch, was the sensation of the Southwest when it opened. Its architecture and ambience, reminiscent of Europe's grand hotels, have allowed it to remain a Dallas landmark. In 1981, some $80 million was invested to fully restore the hotel's interior.
 Located in the center of Dallas' business and financial district, the Adolphus has earned the AAA Five Diamond Award for the past nine years. It was recently named one of the 10 best hotels in the United States in the prestigious Conde Nast Traveler survey.
 A joint venture of the New England and Westgroup Partners will continue to own the hotel while Westgroup's management division will continue to manage the property.
 Alan Campey, managing partner of Westgroup Hotels, said, "Obviously maintaining our positioning as Dallas's premier landmark property is extremely important to us. We are priviledged to be asked to join a collection that includes properties such as The St. Regis and Hotel Hana Maui. The affiliation will afford a greater national and international presence for The Adophus. We know that our marketing efforts will benefit from ITT Sheraton's strong reservations system and vast worldwide sales force," he said.
 "We at ITT Sheraton recognize that today's luxury travelers are discriminating in their choice of lodging. We intend to be well-positioned to capitalize on this important and growing market," Kapioltas said.
 ITT Sheraton is a subsidiary of ITT Corporation (NYSE: ITT), a diversified, multinational enterprise engaged principally in nine product and service businesses. ITT also has a 30 percent interest in Acatel N.V., the world's largest telecommunications equipment manufacturing company.
