ADOLPH COORS CO. ESTIMATES FOURTH QUARTER CHARGE

GOLDEN, Colo., Nov. 17 /PRNewswire/ -- Adolph Coors Co. (NASDAQ-NMS: ACCOB) today updated its estimate of the range for the restructuring charge anticipated in the fourth quarter of 1993.
The charge against earnings is related to a company-wide effort to improve long-term earnings. Major areas included in the effort are general and administrative costs, operational efficiencies, asset utilization and revenue enhancement.
The company estimates the total impact on fourth quarter and year- end earnings to be in the range of $100 million to $125 million on a pretax basis. This range includes the previously announced estimate of $65 million to $75 million for the cost of voluntary separation incentives designed to reduce the company's white-collar work force.
Company officials said that, although the total restructuring charge will have a significant impact on fourth quarter and year-end financial results, these efforts will better position Adolph Coors Co. for future growth and profitability.
