COLUMBUS, Ind., July 20 /PRNewswire/ -- Uniformed Services Benefit Plan, Inc. (USBPI), a Columbus, Ind.-based subsidiary of AdminaStar, Inc., specializing in providing health care administrative services to agencies of the U.S. Department of Defense, has been awarded a $154 million contract with the Civilian Health and Medical Program of the Uniformed Services (CHAMPUS).
CHAMPUS provides health care insurance coverage to spouses, children and other dependents of active, retired or deceased military personnel. USBPI will administer the northern region of the agency's national health care program. The northern region includes 19 northeastern and midwestern states and covers approximately 1 million CHAMPUS participants.
USBPI has been providing health care administrative services to CHAMPUS' northern region since 1988. The new five-year contract takes effect March 1, 1994.
According to Alfred G. Marino, president and chief executive officer of USBPI, "The keys to our business are service and efficiency." Marino added, "For that reason, we have invested heavily in state-of-the-art computer technology and in our most valuable resource, our employees. I think that is why USBPI has been ranked as one of the CHAMPUS' most efficient contractors."
