 ADM ANNOUNCES DEATH OF RICHARD E. BURKET
 The Archer Daniels Midland Company is sad to announce today the


death of one of its most valued employees, Richard E. Burket, vice president and assistant to the chairman. It is our understanding that Mr. Burket suffered a heart attack at the Corporate Headquarters in Decatur, Ill., and was pronounced dead at Decatur Memorial Hospital.
 A native of Sanduusky, Ohio, Mr. Burket received his bachelor's degree in Liberal Arts from Oberlin College in 1950. After service with the U.S. Army, he entered the agri-processing industry in 1954.
 In 1969, he joined ADM as a corporate vice president, and in 1974 was promoted to vice president and assistant to the president with various responsibilities, including corporate research and governmental relations. In 1980, he was named vice president and assistant to the chairman.
 Mr. Burket had been very active in civic affairs. He had served on the Decatur-Macon County Economic Development Foundation since its inception. He was on the original steering committee for the Decatur Advantage, and played the lead role in developing the Decatur theme, "Pride of the Prairie". A former chairman of the board of the Metro Decatur Chamber of Commerce, he was instrumental in the origination of both the Decatur Leadership Institute and Decatur-Macon County Crimestoppers.
 One of the originators of Partners in Education, just Wednesday Mr. Burket had been notified of his selection as the Honoree or the Partners in Education Annual Salute. He served as president of the Decatur Area Arts Council Board and was a past recipient of the Individual Arts Award.
 Mr. Burket served on the Illinois Agricultural Export Advisory Committee, the U.S. Sweetener Producers Group, and the Illinois 4-H Foundation.
