Version 3.0 Provides Full Compliance with New ANSI HDSL2 Standards

ADC (Nasdaq: ADCT; today announced the immediate availability of System Release 3.0 for the company's popular Soneplex(TM) Shelf Controller Unit (SCU). This revised release adds a range of features to the SCU, including local and remote testing capabilities and full compliance with the recently approved ANSI standard for HDSL2. ADC customers currently operating under earlier system releases can upgrade to System Release 3.0.

Under System Release 3.0, users can employ the SCU to provide DS1 local loop testing services through the Remote Test Access Unit (RTAU) at costs much less than those typically associated with an external field test set. Additionally, System Release 3.0 enables those users who currently rely exclusively on external test sets to perform remote metallic loop qualification before circuit turn-up. In many instances, this capability saves the cost of dispatching an outside plant technician into the field by isolating and identifying loop problems early at the network operations center level.

Possibly the greatest benefit delivered by the enhanced SCU software release is the ability for carriers to capitalize on the single-pair architecture that second-generation HDSL provides with the confidence that the ADC solution is fully compliant with all recently established ANSI HDSL2 standards.

"ADC's Soneplex System Release 3.0 offers a very practical solution to local exchange carriers, interexchange carriers, ISPs and other service providers as they battle expanded demand for broadband local loop services," said Sean Martin, vice president of marketing and product management for ADC's Wireline Systems Division. "Now, carriers can effectively and affordably double their plant capacity by capitalizing on the single-pair capability of standards-based HDSL2, provided by ADC's SCU System Release 3.0."

System Release 3.0 now is the standard operating package for all new ADC Soneplex SCUs being shipped. To learn more about the Soneplex system, please visit ADC at Networld + Interop in Las Vegas, May 9-11, booth No. 1424.
