ACUVISION COMMENCES KEY STUDIES IN VISION TRAINING

CARLSBAD, Calif., Jan. 14 /PRNewswire/ -- International AcuVision Systems Inc. (Vancouver: IAV.V) is pleased to announce that it began shipping units against sales in late December 1992. To date, more than 20 units have been shipped. The company will intensify its sales effort in the fields of optometry, sports teams and universities in the first quarter of 1993 by attending several trade shows and by direct mailing campaigns. Based upon current sales, the company believes that it will break even in the first calendar quarter of 1993.
The company is now in the final stages of contract negotiations with one of the leading ophthalmologists in the United States. Upon completion, the doctor will become AcuVision's medical director. Under his direction several revolutionary studies will begin, specifically in the fields of tennis, rehabilitation and industrial productivity. The object of each study will be to prove that visual skills can be enhanced through training and that this enhancement can be transferred into the sport, in the case of tennis; into increased productivity on an assembly line, in the case of industry; and finally into increased patient recovery in the field of rehabilitation.
With regard to the tennis study, a date has already been set to begin work with a leading tennis professional. The study will begin Feb. 10, 1993, with the initial phase requiring approximately 30 days. The object of the study will be to demonstrate that increased visual skills lead directly to increased performance on the tennis court. In conjunction with this study the company is beginning to test market a "vision training center" in a tennis club in Chicago. The object of the test market will be to set up a vision training center in a tennis club where players will pay a fee for a vision evaluation and 10 training sessions. Upon completion of the player's initial program he will maintain his new higher level of visual skills by continuing with regular sessions on the AcuVision 1000. The company anticipates that positive results from the study in the tennis field will encourage publicity and a public awareness that creates a need for vision training. This type of press coverage will be promoted through articles in sports publications and, in essence, educate the public to the idea of vision training. As vision training becomes more prominent and more players are actively engaged in the process the company can work in creating recurring profits, as each player continues to maximize the benefits of top visual performance.
The AcuVision 1000 is patented so the vision centers will be difficult to duplicate. The company also intends to establish such vision centers in the golf field. It is widely acknowledged that golf is a $2.78 billion industry, and that a major percentage of that annual figure is spent by executives of the average age between 40-59 years old. These players will spend freely to increase their golf skills.
Based upon initial sales results and upon the studies that will commence with the first 90 days of 1993 it is believed that very exciting times are in store for the company.
