ACTOR RON PERLMAN GUEST STARS ON 'THE UNTOUCHABLES': PERLMAN PORTRAYS A DIFFERENT KIND OF 'BEAST' IN 'THE CRUCIBLES' TO AIR WEEK OF 10/18

LOS ANGELES, Sept. 30 /PRNewswire/ -- Award-winning actor Ron Perlman ("Beauty and the Beast") will make a special guest appearance on an upcoming episode of Paramount's popular one-hour first-run syndicated series, "The Untouchables." Perlman portrays "Snake," an unnerving killer-for-hire, in "The Crucibles," scheduled to air week of Oct. 18 (check local listings).
With Al Capone in jail, Frank Nitti tries to strike back at Eliot Ness (Amandes). In this episode, he hires "Snake," who goes for Ness' heart when he stalks his wife and daughter to a remote location and circles menacingly until Ness arrives on the scene. The two engage in an unusual shooting match.
Perlman, who starred for four seasons in the acclaimed CBS television series "Beauty and the Beast," garnered a Golden Globe Award, two Emmy Award nominations and two Viewers for Quality Television Awards for his portrayal of the Beast.
"We are excited to be able to attract such first-rate talent as Ron Perlman to `The Untouchables,' says Christopher Crowe, executive producer. "As we enter our second season, the authenticity of the shows, the quality of the production values and the exciting story lines have enabled us to continue to deliver outstanding programming. The addition of guest stars like Ron Perlman greatly contributes to exciting television week after week."
Perlman is a diverse talent, having just completed the role of Lieutenant Delacroix in TNT's "The Cisco Kid" for award-winning director Luis Valdez. He recently appeared in the Disney film "The Adventures of Huck Finn," and will be featured in a cameo role in the upcoming Gramercy Pictures film "Romeo is Bleeding," as well as in the independent features "Two Rivers" and "Double Exposure." Perlman also stars in "The Cronos Device," which received nine Mexican Academy Awards and won the Critics' Prize at this year's Cannes Film Festival.
"The Untouchables" has enjoyed a very successful first season, ranking as the No. 2 new, first-run hour in syndication. The dramatic series features the legendary struggle between Treasury agent Eliot Ness (series star Tom Amandes) and his fellow "untouchables" and the underworld forces responsible for corrupting the political and social systems of Chicago. The cast also features John Rhys-Davies, Paul Regina, David James Elliot, John Haymes Newton, Shea Farrell as Quinlan and William Forsythe as Al Capone. "The Crucibles" was written by Jack Thibeau and directed by Vern Gillum.
Crowe is executive producer of "The Untouchables." Steven Bello and Al Ruggiero are co-executive producers. Tim Iacofano and Fred Lyle are producers.
"The Untouchables" is produced by Christopher Crowe Productions and Paramount Network Television, and distributed by Paramount Domestic Television. The Paramount Television Group is part of the entertainment operations of Paramount Communications Inc.
