ACTING GOV. SINGEL ANNOUNCES AID FOR DISLOCATED WORKERS

 HARRISBURG, Pa., Aug. 23 /PRNewswire/ -- Acting Gov. Mark S. Singel today announced approval of more than $2 million in state funds to provide income-related assistance and job training services for dislocated workers in Pennsylvania.
 "Dislocated workers are workers who have lost their jobs through large-scale plant closings or layoffs or who have been unemployed for a long period of time." Singel said.
 "Services to be provided will include financial and personal counseling, job and skills testing, education assessment, job search and counseling, and individual reassessment help."
 The funds are made available under the state Dislocated Worker Training Assistance Act. They are awarded and administered by the state Department of Labor and Industry.
 A total of $2,035,500 in funding will be distributed to authorized job training agencies in the following Pennsylvania Job Training Partnership Act service delivery areas:
