ACPE moves distance education into new territory with courses completely online.

When ACPE first began InterAct distance education courses over four years ago, the vast majority of our members were still connecting to the Internet by telephone modems, and CD-Roms were just becoming standard equipment on new computers for the home.

Starting this year, we are taking the next step in InterAct's development by putting three new courses 100% online--InterAct Express Web courses. The Express Web format was created to meet three main needs:

1. Courses that cover content that changes regularly (information systems) need frequent updates--Web-based courses allow this.

2. Many members prefer to read the materials as well as or instead of watching the lectures--the text-based format of Express Web allows this.

3. Members wanted to skip introductory material and delve into specific topics more in-depth--Express Web's short, focused courses allow this.

ACPE will continue to provide InterAct Online courses that combine the video component of CD-based lectures with online interactivity, as well as the Express CD versions which are CD-only and allow self-study at the student's convenience. Express Web allows quick, inexpensive, in-depth study of highly specific topics--while still providing access to course faculty.
