ACORDIA ACQUIRES MANAGED CARE COMPANY

 INDIANAPOLIS, Jan. 5 /PRNewswire/ -- Acordia, Inc. (NYSE: ACO) announced today that it is now the sole owner of McDonough Caperton Benefit Services, Inc. Acordia, which previously held 50% ownership of McDonough Caperton Benefit Services, acquired the remaining 50% from Greensboro, N.C.-based Jefferson-Pilot Life Insurance Company (NYSE: JP) on Dec. 30, 1993.
 Terms of the transaction were not disclosed.
 McDonough Caperton Benefit Services, of Charleston, W.Va., owns and operates a managed health care network in West Virginia. The company is also a major third party administrator of health insurance claims in the state. McDonough Caperton Benefit Services has annual revenues of $15 million.
 Acordia is a nationwide network of companies that provide insurance broking, claims administration, consulting and selected financial services. Indianapolis-based Acordia is the seventh largest insurance broker in the United States, and the ninth largest in the world.
