ACE arrests officer for corruption in water supply scheme.
SUKKUR -- ACE sleuths arrested sub-divisional officer of public health engineering department, Mehar Das, in Mirpur Mathelo on Wednesday on charges of corruption in water supply scheme in Daharki.
The arrest was made in the wake of water commission's visit of the water supply scheme in Daharki a few days back.
The judge had said that he had received complaints about corruption in the water supply scheme which had allegedly been built at a cost of Rs190 million and observed that no work had been carried out on the site but huge amounts were being drawn from time to time in the name of the scheme.
The judge had ordered inquiry against the corruption and subsequently the ACE registered the case against officials of public health engineering department including Engineer Abdul Rauf Kolachi, sub-divisional officer Mehar Das, contractor Alam Pitafi and accountant Riaz KamAboh.
