ACCESS AMERICA TELEMANAGEMENT ACQUIRES UNITED TELEMANAGEMENT
ST. LOUIS, Sept. 2 /PRNewswire/ -- Access America Telemanagement (AAT) announced today that it has acquired United Telemanagement Inc. (UTI), a California-based competitor. The acquisition creates the second-largest telemanagement company in the country, with more than $17 million in annual sales.
"UTI's business base fits perfectly with Access America's aggressive market expansion and client development goals," said James C. Barnard, president of AAT. "The two companies share many similarities, including scope of services and a strong commitment to client service."
With the acquisition of UTI, AAT now provides telemanagement services to clients in three states: California, Illinois, and Missouri. "As we continue to grow, we will consider additional acquisition opportunities that fit with our company's highly targeted focus on small and medium-sized business customers," Barnard said. The company intends to expand operations into northern California and other regions within 12 months, Barnard said. Since 1989, AAT's client base has grown an average of 281 percent per year.
Now the country's second-largest telemanagement firm, Access America has benefitted from the investment backing of Southern New England Telephone (SNET)-- a former operating company of the Bell system, with 1.5 million customers and $1.6 billion in annual sales. "Our partnership with SNET has provided the important resources needed to help AAT continue to expand its market presence, and improve the range of client services we provide," Barnard said.
Telemanagement is widely recognized as one of the fastest growing segments of the telecommunications industry. Access America Telemanagement provides professional management services to small and medium-sized businesses. AAT services are designed to reduce the complexity and confusion businesses face due to the growing number of local and long distance telecommunications options. As AAT clients, businesses can handle all their telecommunications services through a single point-of-contact, and manage their telecommunications costs more effectively.
One of Access America's unique and proprietary services, for example, provides automatic least-cost call completion on long distance calls. As AAT clients, businesses are guaranteed that their local and long distance services will be billed at the lowest available rate from the nation's primary telecommunications carriers (AT&T, MCI, Sprint and the local telephone company).
"We continuously monitor the complex changes in long distance rate plans, so our clients don't have to," Barnard said. "That's just one of the many ways clients can benefit from our expertise in telecommunications."
AAT clients also have access to a broad range of sophisticated value-added services, such as video conferencing, conference calling, voice messaging and enhanced "Fax Store & Forward" service.
Headquartered in St. Louis, AAT operates regional offices in Chicago and southern California. UTI, headquartered in Irvine, Calif., also operates a regional office in northern California. These UTI offices now will begin serving clients under the Access America name. Terms of the acquisition were not disclosed.
