ACCA JOINS WITH AREA GAS COMPANIES FOR FURNACE CHECK PROJECT

PITTSBURGH, Nov. 12 /PRNewswire/ -- With winter right around the corner, it's time to have the furnace inspected for safety and efficiency before the temperatures drop too low.
Yet for some area families, the cost of an annual furnace inspection is too expensive. To help with this problem, the Air Conditioning Contractors of America (ACCA) in conjunction with The Peoples Natural Gas Company and Equitable Gas will donate their time and services to those in need this week, between Nov. 15 and 20, by conducting free natural gas furnace inspections and cleaning for approximately 100 homes in Allegheny County.
Families have been selected by the following criteria: homeowners, low-income (at or below 150 percent of the poverty level), unemployed, underemployed or disabled. These consumers maintain an income which is not high enough to typically include furnace maintenance.
ACCA is comprised of 40 local, independent heating contractors and approximately 35 affiliates including suppliers, utilities and vocational schools in five western Pennsylvania counties with the goal of helping area contractors provide and maintain quality heating, ventilation and air conditioning service to consumers.
ACCA furnace inspectors will wear name tags during the project for the purpose of proper identification when visiting consumers' houses.
