ACA National Board elections.

Each year, members of the American Camping Association are asked to elect a few new representives to serve on the ACA National Board of Directors. This year, three board members-at-large are to be elected from within the total ACA membership. All at-large positions have a three-year term of service.

Current members should receive their election ballots in early January. Those who do not receive a ballot should call the ACA National Office at 317/342-8456.

Candidates for Board Members-At-Large

Karen Currie Allen, CCD -- Oxford, Miss.

Vitae: Associate for camps and education, Hopewell Camp and Conference Center, Oxford, Miss.; 14 years experience as camp director.

Current ACA Service: President, Mid-South Section; member, ACA National Strategic Planning Committee; member, ACA Endowment Campaign Not-for-Profit Committee.

Past ACA Service: Louisiana district chair and member-at-large, Mid-South Section board; member, Mid-South Section program committee; Mid-south Section delegate, ACA Council of Delegates; standards visitor and instructor, campcraft instructor; CCD mentor.

Donald S. Cheley, CCD -- Denver, Colo.

Vitae: Executive director, Cheley Colorado Camps, Estes Park, Colo.; 23 years experience as camp director.

Current ACA Service: Member, ACA Endowment Campaign Committee.

Past ACA Service: Member, national board (vice president of field service and western region chair); regional chair, ACA Capital Campaign; president, vice president, nominating chair and directory chair, Rocky Mountain Section board; Rocky Mountain Section delegate, ACA Council of Delegates; past president and board member, WAIC.

David A. Hilliard -- Eureka, Mo.

Vitae: Executive director, The Wyman Center and Camp Wyman, Inc., Eureka, Mo.; 27 years experience in camp administration.

Current ACA Service: Standards visitor.

Past] ACA Service: President, treasurer, board member, program chair, public relations chair and legislative chair, St. Louis Section; presentor at national and regional conferences.

Deborah A. Smith -- Indianapolis, Ind.

Vitae: Director of facilities and resources, Hoosier Capital Girl Scouts; and adjunct instructor of economics, Indiana Wesleyan University, Marion, Ind.; 20 years experience in camping field.

Current ACA Service: ACA Ambassador; member, Mid-States Conference Steering Committee; treasurer and Midwest chair, National Association of African Americans in Camping.

Past ACA Service: Program chair, Indiana Section.

Posie Merritt Taylor -- Fairlee, Vt.

Vitae: Managing director, Aloha Foundation, Fairlee, Vt.; 20 years experience in camp administration.

Current ACA Service: member, ACA National Strategic Planning Committee; board member and chairperson of development committee, New England Section; member, New England Section education/conference program committees.

Past ACA Service: Chair of New England Section fall education conference; hospitality, conference and program committees, New England Section.
