ABC Votes to Adopt Conversion Standards.
The board of directors at the Audit Bureau of Circulations held an interim meeting at the end of April. Details of the meeting pertaining to newspapers are as follows.
Geographical reporting will become optional so publishers are no longer required to establish separate basic prices for each area.
The board voted to phase out all intermittent subscriptions by 2011.
Also determined: The board voted to adopt standards to govern "forced" frequency conversions. A publisher can eliminate a certain frequency and convert those subscribers to a new frequency and have if qualify as paid circulation.
