ABC News cited by AOPO for journalism excellence.

The Association of Organ Procurement Organizations (AOPO) presented its 2001 Crystal Heart Award the ABC News for "journalistic excellence in its documentary portrayal of patients waiting for lifesaving organ transplants, and the professionals who work to make transplantation possible." The program, which aired last year, was titled "Hopkins 24/7." The award, which was presented during AOPO's annual meeting in Minneapolis last week, is recognizes national media efforts to factually report on "the medical miracle of donation and transplantation."

Ladies Home Journal received an honorable mention for an article on a group of donor mothers in the Albany, New York area, dubbed the MOD (Mothers of Donors) Squad, whose members devote themselves to promoting organ and tissue donation.
