ABBOTT LABORATORIES TO REDEEM DEBENTURES

 ABBOTT PARK, Ill., Feb. 4 /PRNewswire/ -- Abbott Laboratories (NYSE: ABT) announced today that, as a result of its normal sinking fund payment due March 1, 1993, the remaining outstanding amount of the company's 7-5/8 percent sinking fund debentures will be redeemed effective that date. The debentures will be redeemed at par and interest will be paid to the redemption date. Citibank, N.A., Corporate Trust Services, 111 Wall Street, N.Y., N.Y., 10043 is the paying agent for the redemption. The debentures currently outstanding total $1,299,000.
 Abbott Laboratories is a worldwide manufacturer of health care products employing some 48,000 people. In 1992, the company's sales and net earnings were $7.8 billion and $1.2 billion respectively, with earnings per share of $1.47.
