 ABB UNIT AWARDED $270 MIL. CONTRACT
 FOR LARGEST POWER STATION IN CHINA
 STAMFORD, Conn., April 6 /PRNewswire/ -- Asea Brown Boveri Inc. (ABB) said a unit is part of a consortium that will build the largest power plant in the People's Republic of China. The turnkey contract for the 1310 MW project is valued in excess of $1 billion; the value to ABB is approximately $270 million. Other members of the consortium are Slipform Engineering Ltd. and GEC Alsthom NV.
 ABB Combustion Engineering Systems will supply two 655 MW boiler islands designed to burn both domestic and imported coal. The construction schedule calls for both units to be in operation in 1995. The new plant, Shajiao C, will be adjacent to Shajiao Units A and B, located on the Pearl River south of Guangzhou in Guangdong Province. The power generated will support industrial growth in the rapidly developing region.
 Asea Brown Boveri Inc. provides products and services for the power, process, industrial automation, environmental control, mass transit and other markets. The company and its subsidiaries have sales of approximately $6 billion and some 30,000 employees in the United States.
