 ABB FORMS NEW $300 MILLION PAINT FINISHING BUSINESS
 FOCUS IS ON AUTOMOTIVE, INDUSTRIAL MANUFACTURERS
 DETROIT, Jan. 30 /PRNewswire/ -- Asea Brown Boveri Inc. (ABB) has formed a new company, headquartered in Troy, Mich., to supply paint finishing systems to the automotive and industrial manufacturers in North America, the company said today.
 ABB said the new company, ABB Paint Finishing, is being established from two divisions of its ABB Flakt operation. It will employ approximately 250 professionals and have sales approaching $300 million.
 ABB said the company will provide all aspects of system design engineering, manufacturing, installation, and service of paint finishing equipment, paint automation systems and environmental equipment for paint finishing customers.
 The new company will include the operations of ABB Flakt Alpha, with its complete paint facilities and installation expertise, and ABB Flakt Ransburg's application equipment. The company will continue its existing manufacturing and assembly operations in Ferndale, Mich. and Indianapolis.
 "This action is a logical next step in our efforts to provide automotive and industrial manufacturers with leading edge paint finishing technology and products," said John Camardella, president of ABB Flakt Inc., Atlanta.
 ABB Flakt is the environmental control segment of Asea Brown Boveri Inc., Stamford, Conn. ABB and its subsidiaries, with sales of $6 billion and some 30,000 employees, provide products and services for the power, process, industrial automation, environmental control, mass transit and other markets.
