The star is appearing on telly gigs for 'Talaash'

FOR the first time ever, Aamir Khan is going all out to promote a film on television. His new film Talaash is scheduled to open on November 30, and the superstar has taken to the small screen to aggressively market the film as never before.

Over the weekend, Aamir is all set to make a splash across channels to promote the Reema Kagti- directed crime thriller. He will appear as Inspector Shekhawat to help ACP Pradyuman on the longest running TV series, CID , on Sony TV. He will also shake a leg with popular telly bahu s on a special programme called Nayi Soch Ki Talaash Aamir Ke Saath on Star Plus.

In a career spanning over two decades, Aamir has never been on television to promote any of his films so far. Known to be a recluse, Aamir only comes out in the public eye when he needs to market a new release. He aggressively promoted 3 Idiots and Ghajini in practically every city but never took to the small screen.

The only time he was on TV to promote a film was when he was launching his nephew Imran Khan with Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na back in 2008. Aamir had then appeared on his friend Salman Khan's show, Dus Ka Dum . Aamir had strategically planned the promotion of Talaash on television once the hoopla dies down on this year's Diwali biggies, Jab Tak Hai Jaan and Son Of Sardaar . " Aamir agreed to appear on CID because his character in the film matched with the concept of the show. He plays Inspector Shekhawat on CID -- the same character he plays in the film.

Aamir had several script sessions because he wanted his character to be articulately entwined within the script of the particular episode of the detective serial," a source from the channel said.

The episode in which Aamir appears is titled ' Red Suitcase Murders'. He will be seen helping the CID team consisting of ACP Pradyuman, played by Shivaji Satam, and Inspector Abhijeet, played by Aditya Srivastava, to crack the case.

Aamir has realised the reach of the small screen after his debut stint on the medium as the host of Satyamev Jayate earlier this year. That is a reason why he also agreed to match steps with the group of telly bahu s on Star Plus. Prominent characters from shows such as Diya Aur Baati Hum , Saathiya , Iss Pyar Ko Kya Naam Doon shot with Aamir at Film City on Monday, for the episode to be aired over the weekend.

Every other superstar has been using television to promote their films, either on shows they host or on shows of friends. Salman Khan and Katrina Kaif promoted Ek Tha Tiger on the dance reality show Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa while Shah Rukh Khan along with Katrina and Anushka Sharma promoted Jab Tak Hai Jaan on India's Got Talent and Sa Re Ga Ma Pa . Ajay Devgn and Sonakshi Sinha were seen promoting Son Of Sardaar on Bigg Boss 6 .

Known to be a recluse, Aamir only comes out in public when he needs to market a new release. He aggressively promoted 3 Idiots and Ghajini in practically every city but never took to TV
