AAMA ISSUES PRELIMINARY NEW TRUCK SALES FIGURES FOR AUGUST

 WASHINGTON, Sept. 9 /PRNewswire/ -- Franchised dealers of truck manufacturers sold 428,902 units in August, the highest sales total for that month on record, according to a preliminary report issued today by the American Automobile Manufacturers Association (AAMA).
 Retail sales for August were 10.1 percent above sales for the month a year ago. There were 26 selling days in this period, the same as a year ago.
 August sales were at a seasonally adjusted annual rate of 5,131,000, an 11 percent increase from the August 1992 seasonally adjusted rate of 4,623,000 units.
