AAICPC meets in Minneapolis for Annual conference.
The Association of Administrators of the Interstate Compact on the Placement of Children is vigorously planning for its 37th Annual Business Meeting, Training Workshop and Child Welfare Conference in Minneapolis, Minn. This year's business meeting, training and conference event will be held from April 29-May 3, 2011.
Over the last year and a half, the AAICPC has been entrenched in an in-depth review and overhaul of the ICPC regulations. The association, which is comprised of compact and deputy compact administrators and ICPC liaisons from all 50 states, the District of Columbia and the U.S. Virgin Islands, is proposing amendments and creating new regulations to address the many problems that present delays and barriers in interstate placements. At the 2010 AAICPC Business Meeting, the AAICPC amended Regulation 1, which addresses conversion of interstate placements to intrastate placements; and, adopted a new Regulation 11, which details the requirements for supervision in interstate placements.
At the upcoming 2011 meeting, amendments to Regulations 2, 3 and 7, with introduction of an accompanying order of compliance, and a new Regulation 12 are being proposed. These regulations will outline clear requirements for public interstate placements; provide a new and extensive ICPC glossary; create new placement mechanisms for expedited and provisional placements with family members when a child becomes displaced due to emergency circumstances; and, will explain in detail the process for persons and entities engaged in private and independent interstate adoptions. In addition, the child welfare conference will address topics pertaining to criminal records checks; child and family services reviews; benefits and services of International Services; policy and federal legislative updates and host of other topics that affect child welfare, health and human services and the promotion of the new ICPC.
The association welcomes all to attend this phenomenal meeting.
