K-T. Jerry Yeo, PhD, DABCC, FACB, is director of the clinical chemistry and endocrinology laboratory at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center and professor of pathology at Dartmouth Medical School in Lebanon, New Hampshire. A former president of the North American Chinese Clinical Chemists Association (NACCCA), an international society of clinical laboratory scientists of Asian descent that facilitates scientific exchange and collaboration among laboratory professionals in North America and the Asia-Pacific region, Dr. Yeo strives to advance the practice of clinical laboratory science internationally. He was an invited speaker at the First Chinese Congress of Clinical Chemistry and Laboratory Medicine held in Hong Kong in 2000. On trips to Malaysia throughout the past 14 years, Dr. Yeo has always made an effort to bring advances in laboratory medicine to local medical schools and hospitals. Last year, he did an extensive lecture series on cardiac biomarkers for the Malaysian Medical Association, the Singapore Association of Clinical Biochemistry, and the Singapore Society Pathologists. As the current chair of the Science and Education Committee of NACCCA, he recently proposed that this organization translate the NACB's laboratory medicine practice guidelines into Chinese to promote their dissemination in China and Taiwan. He is currently the chair of the publication committee of NACB and a member of the editorial board of Clinica Chimica Acta; he is a former editor of the NACB newsletter. His research is focused on the clinical and analytical aspects of biomarkers in cardiology. He has published more than 100 papers, abstracts, and book chapters.
