 A.M. BEST ISSUES RESULTS OF SIX-MONTH REVIEW
 OLDWICK, N.J., Sept. 29 /PRNewswire/ -- A.M. Best Company today


released the names of 41 insurance companies whose Best's Ratings were changed and 16 that were put on Best's Rating Watch List, based on a review of six-month financial results and subsequent relevant events, particularly hurricanes Andrew and Iniki.
 A.M. Best reviewed 2,257 property/casualty insurers, 91 percent of the 2,468 companies assigned Best's Ratings last spring. Ratings were changed for 31 companies, and 10 insurers were placed on Best's Rating Watch List. The changes included two downgrades, two rating suspensions, 10 companies placed under some form of state regulatory supervision, six letter ratings revised to rating "not assigned" categories, one company rated for the first time, and 10 with revised rating modifiers or rating "not assigned" categories.
 The review of life/health company ratings concluded with 10 companies whose ratings were changed and six companies that were placed on the Rating Watch List. The changes included two companies with downgraded ratings, seven companies placed under some form of state supervision and one company assigned the rating of its parent. In all, 1,092 life/health insurers' six-month results were reviewed. The review represented 78 percent of the 1,664 companies assigned Best's Ratings in the spring, excluding 268 companies with the rating "not assigned" category of "NA-1" (Special Data Filing).
 Property/casualty and life/health insurers that were not reviewed did not provide A.M. Best with their six-month financial results.
