A-B establishes retail managers.

In a move to provide stronger support of its major retail accounts, Anheuser-Busch, Inc., will establish a unit of "retail segment specialists" within its National Accounts division.

Joseph Hoff, who formerly served as an executive assistant, will head the new group, which began operation last month.

As director of segment management, Hoffs will be responsible for specific sales and marketing strategies aimed at the different types of retail accounts that carry A-B products.

"This new group marks a critical expansion within our National Accounts division," reported Mark Danner, A-B's National Accounts vice president. "In today's world of marketing specialization, we believe it is important for brewers to focus a greater level of attention of keys in the retail industry."

Focusing on in-depth analysis, shelf management, sales promotions, merchandising and training, this group will assist retailers in each of the following industry segments: supermarket, convenience-store, drug store, concessionaire, hotel, airline, mass-merchandisers, liquor store and on-premise establishments.

"As the leading brewer, it is incumbent upon us to bring innovative and creative programs to our retailers, customized to their needs whenever possible," Hoffs said. "In addition, these segment managers will act as an information resource to our customers, sharing market research, sales tracking and demographics."
